Stopping Procrastination and Crushing a Launch! – Tom Hine

"I'm doing everything I knew I needed to do before.

I launched the first iteration of my online coaching program, which is why I came to The Arena in the first place.

I had a target of having 10 clients in that first iteration, and I ended up with 15. I've got that momentum going."

After leaving a career in investment banking, Tom opened a fitness training company in Singapore.

The business was doing well and growing through referrals, but the long hours were draining. He barely had any time for himself between the business, his wife, and their kid.

He knew something needed to change.

"I was launching the first iteration of my online coaching business, and I was waiting for the right moment to do it and make sure everything was ready and all this kind of stuff.

I was sitting on all of these ideas and procrastinating and not going ahead and going for it. I couldn't figure out why, even though I knew this was what I wanted to do next."

So Tom joined The Arena, and we got to work.

Not on the business details but on why he wasn't executing.

On figuring out why someone as capable as him was procrastinating on an opportunity that was right in front of him.

We came to peace with certain things he was avoiding and specific fears holding him back… Once we did that, everything shifted.

First, on an internal level:

"The sheer fact that I'd been able to take that step to launch it was so pleasing for me because now I'm learning, developing content, and doing all the things that I knew I needed to do before.

I feel like I've got that momentum going."

And the results followed:

"I launched the program with a target of having 10 clients in that first iteration, and I ended up with 15!

It comes down to executing what I knew I needed to do.

There were all these things in my mind that I knew I needed to do, and I wasn't executing them. Being able to admit that to myself was massive."

What's also important to note is that Tom isn't afraid of hard work. Even before joining The Arena, he was doing the work.

"I tried a couple of online coaching courses related to fitness and how to start your online training business… And don't get me wrong; they taught me quite a lot of content in terms of the practical element.

But no matter how much I knew about that and how much I was learning about it, I still wasn't executing it.

How do I actually apply these things? Right? And that's what The Arena taught me."

This is who he thinks should Join the Arena:

"It's for people that have specific things and goals that they are trying to achieve in life but are struggling to achieve them.

Itamar said in the program that "winners win," and it rang true.

You were surrounded by people who were trying to win. They were trying to level up. Everyone was ambitious.

If you're ambitious and at the same time honest and vulnerable, you'll succeed."

On a personal level, it's fantastic to see Tom stop procrastinating and access his full bank of abilities, jump to the next phase of his business, and win big like this…

To see a winner win.

How to Stop Procrastinating and Take Your Next Big Jump

It's simple:

  1. Ask yourself, "Am I content with my current achievements?"
  2. Decide when you'll take action
  3. Get to work

Who Dares Wins,
Itamar

P.S.

When we asked Tom what surprised him the most about The Arena, he said this:

"There's no fluff in this program.

I remember asking, "How does it work? Do I need to do a lot of preparation or reading? Is it like a load of videos I need to watch?"

And Itamar said, 'No, you need to show up for the calls, and that's it.'

It's incredible because you join the calls for 3 hours a week and are so focused.

In the programs I've done in the past, I haven't been able to keep up with the sheer volume of stuff.

There's a call about this, a call about that…. Now you've got your check-in and your 1-on-1 in your group call, and you've got to read that library and watch that video. It was information overload.

Meanwhile, the way The Arena worked was that you showed up, and every week, you followed on from the previous one.

It had this compound effect with very, very practical takeaways each time.

I loved it, and it is unique. I never had come across that before."

6xing the Biz Without Losing Freedom – Neel Parekh

"We had about three franchise locations when I started with the Arena.
Now we have 18 franchise locations and probably will have even more coming up!"

That’s what Neel shared with me 2.5 years after he completed The Arena.

One of the biggest misunderstandings about The Arena is that people think it’s a 6 week work sprint.

One of those set a goal and hustle hard for 6 weeks bootcamps.

And while guys do achieve massive results during the program, those short term results aren’t the goal.

The goal of the program isn’t to help you sprint for 6 weeks. It’s to change the trajectory of your life and business.

Enter Neel… One of the best people I know.

In 2021 Neel’s business was doing well; he was traveling all over the world and having a great time… but he knew that he was playing smaller than he should be. That he was keeping his business at a certain level.

"I don't feel like I was thinking big enough. I saw a lot of my peers exceeding what I was doing, and I felt like I wasn't thinking big enough and couldn't figure out why.

I kept thinking, am I doing the right thing? Is there a better way of doing it? Why don't I feel as motivated as other people? Do I need to find my 'Why?'

I wasn't living up to my capability, and other people were doing things I wanted to do.

I thought growing a business would sacrifice my lifestyle. I felt that if I grew a big business, that's the opposite of having a very flexible lifestyle.

I just felt a lot of conflicting thoughts in my head."

And while he tried more "spiritual, esoteric mindset work," as a very logical and rational individual, it didn't work for him.

So Neel joined The Arena, and we got to work.

"I really liked this systematic approach, and I think it resonates with people in the business realm.

There was an actual system of, 'Hey, we're going to pursue this, then we do this, and there's a spreadsheet where you can see your false beliefs and how to counter it'."

Having a system to get him clear on what he wants and what is or isn't possible to achieve without sacrificing the freedom and lifestyle he built up made all the difference for him.

"We had about three franchise locations. We have 18 franchise locations as of today, so we added 15 more and will probably have even more coming up.

And I realized in the Arena that just because you have a big business doesn't mean you have to give up a lot of your time and freedom."

Sometimes, you can have your cake and eat it, too… If you get out of your own way.

Neel's thoughts about the Arena and the group format that made him hesitate:

"At first, I was skeptical. Am I paying this much for a group call?

Like there should be one-on-one coaching, right? But the group is actually way better.

Being with a lot of like-minded people lets you move a lot faster…

And Itamar will tell you what it is straight, but he never does it in a mean way, never in a way to put your ego down. It's never in a way to make you feel attacked.

You're not just talking about feelings, blocks, etc. There's an actual, real system you go through that makes things a lot more efficient.

If you're someone who wants to think bigger, who feels like he's in his own head, who wants to get ahead and make massive improvements really fast, then the Arena is a nice and condensed way of doing that."

On a personal level, it's amazing to see Neel go for it and 6x his business without needing to sacrifice his lifestyle and travels.

My goal was never to help people sprint for 6 weeks, but to help them become a better them.

And seeing that his results didn’t fade at all, but actually kept building brings a giant smile to my face.

How to Take Action Now
(And perhaps have your cake and eat it too)

It's simple:

  1. Ask yourself, "Am I afraid to grow my business and am holding it back?"
  2. Figure out if there's a way for you to grow it without sacrificing what's important to you
  3. Remove the mental block holding you back from doing that.

2x Monthly Income: The 6-Week Program That Transformed My Business – Ryan Hickey

"I've doubled my monthly income since doing the program.

It's only been six weeks, but I've seen significant momentum with my business."

Ry had a nutrition coaching business. While it was getting his clients great results, it wasn't getting him the financial rewards he wanted.

He felt stuck, and despite having done years of therapy, being an avid reader, hiring many coaches, and even studying psychology in school, he couldn't figure out why.

"I was in a state of frustration knowing that I was missing something, knowing that I had these blind spots that I was semi aware of, but I just didn't know how to specifically address them.

It affected my confidence and how I showed up in social settings, feeling like I was inefficient and unable to provide.

It affected all facets of my life, and I knew I needed to shake things up."

So Ry joined The Arena, and we got to work… Not on the business but on his mind.

To figure out why, despite offering such a good service, he wasn't giving himself permission to benefit from it.

We challenged some of his beliefs, like how he should feel obligated to help people regardless of how much they could pay, but more importantly, around when he should or shouldn't take action.

In his own words:

“The main breakthrough I had during the Arena was the realization that I can do things regardless of how I feel.

That was a big thing that Itamar helped me recognize. I was unconsciously in the camp of 'I have to feel a certain way in order to take consistent action.'

And he helped me break through that belief."

And once that happened, he quickly doubled his income… and it's just the start.

But the interesting thing is that Ry was already doing a lot to try to get unstuck. He tried anything from other coaches to breathwork to mushroom and psilocybin journeys.

So why did he have this transformation (both for himself and his business) within a short 6-week span?

Because he made a decision to bet on himself and do something different.

Here are Ry's thoughts about Itamar and the people in The Arena:

"Itamar has a unique style that I resonate with because he's a strong alpha dude who can handle intense situations in a way that delivers difficult messages compassionately, making you feel like he cares about you.

It's such a cool program because the type of people he brings in is an interesting hybrid of type-A, very successful people who are also really open to changing and evolving."

Ry joined after almost a year of following the podcast and getting emails.

So when we asked him what he would say to other people who aren't sure whether now is the right time for them, he said this:

"There's just no way that you won't gain from it. Itamar is not an average person, and with that comes a different way of thinking.

The Arena is the gateway to a better life. So go towards that."

On a personal note, after the program ended, Ry shared with me something very inspiring.

He shared that after the calls, he would sometimes write down various reasons why this or that wouldn't be possible for him, but instead of sending it to me and sharing it in the group, he would look at it and say "no."

He would say no to that part of him... The part we all have inside us that wants to argue for our limitations.

And by saying no to that part of him, he said yes and made space for this new, more powerful version of him.

Most people let that voice of comfort win. Ry didn't. He's a strong man who did what strong people do… And I'm honored to have been able to be in his corner and help him with that.

If you're feeling stuck, what if you could say NO to that lower part of yourself and 2x your business?

Overcoming Self-Sabotage and $42k Months – Fabian Reinhardt

Fabian had just done something really big. He exited his business after working on it for 4 years.

Yet he wasn’t able to enjoy himself or get going with his next venture.

He had just proven that he was a very capable entrepreneur, but he kept feeling like he was bumping into an invisible wall.

“I had just sold a business that I had been working on for the last 4 years and it unexpectedly threw up a whole bunch of mindset issues and emotions and fears and all these negative things that I was not prepared for at all.”

Logically, Fabian shouldn’t have been going through this.

But self-sabotage isn’t logical. It’s usually caused by a fear that has nothing to do with business acumen or someone’s skill set.

It’s caused by a belief that we should avoid the next level of the game… And that belief causes us to procrastinate, go in circles or just put a stick in our wheels.

And the most frustrating thing? We usually aren’t aware that it’s self-inflicted. We are actually doing it to ourselves.

In his words:

“I was trying to figure out the next path for me. I would start things and then figure out reasons why I couldn't do it. At the end of it I just felt constantly stressed. I would just jump from idea to idea and constantly sabotage myself.”

So why do we self-sabotage or hold ourselves back?

Sometimes because we subconsciously think we’ve lucked out, or peaked already and won’t be able to handle the next level.

And sometimes because we think we don’t deserve the next level of success.

But sometimes it’s both.

It was clear that Fabian was putting a ceiling on himself.

Why? Because he’s a sharp and honest guy. He has a great reputation in business circles and he literally just exited a business.

So we got to work.

Not in his business, but on the false self-image he was holding onto. One that was causing him to go in circles and waste time and effort on the small things that didn’t make an impact.

And he was able to finally step into himself and settle into being who he objectively is - a winner:

“I built a confidence from a much deeper place. From a place of who I am as a person so that no matter how things are going I could still have this deeper, more internal sense of confidence which I still carry to this day and it's only getting stronger…

It's just this huge, huge enlightening kind of ‘Aha’ moment for me. I wouldn't be where I am now without that.”

So what helped Fabian make this big of a breakthrough despite having already listened to multiple podcasts, read business books, stoicism and so on?

It’s that none of us can do brain surgery on ourselves…

“The issue I was running into was that I didn't realize that this area that I thought I needed to work on wasn't actually even close to what the real issue was.

My issues were much deeper and bigger. I wasn't able to see them myself without having Itamar guide me through that process.”

And once we cleared that up he netted a clean $52k + 5 figure in recurring revenue for a new project out of the gate.

What You Can Do To Take Action Now

If Fabian’s situation feels uncomfortably familiar, and you’re struggling with confidence or self-sabotage take the following steps:

  1. Ask what possible beliefs or fears are getting in my way and causing me to play small or hold myself back.
  2. Assess if those beliefs are valid truths or something false that’s holding you back (a great way to do this is by asking, “If this was someone else telling me this about their situation, what would I think?”).
  3. Decide when you’ll say it’s time to step up and do the hard thing. To stop skirting around the issue and address what’s actually holding you back… So that you can start to win.

And if you want help with that, please reach out. It’s my biggest passion.

Because again, you can’t do your own brain surgery, but I’d love to help you remove whatever’s holding you back so you can win BIG.

Who dares wins,

Itamar

P.S. Here are Fabian’s thoughts on the tangible ROI of the program:

“This will be absolutely game-changing for you. If you're on the fence, know that the investment will definitely pay off for your happiness and your mental health, but it will also have a very real ROI because you're going to have more confidence and clarity to act in business as well.

Uncovering these issues that you don't even realize you have, it's such a powerful experience that's just going to unchain you and allow you to move so much faster.”

MORE profit with LESS work? – Anthony Noud

Burnout.

How many times have you experienced it or teetered on the edge of it?

Now the funny thing with burnout is that it’s often self-induced..

Not because we have so much actual work to get done… but because everything FEELS like so much.

It becomes this snowball of overwhelm that leads to working on anything and everything… Instead of what actually makes a difference.

This causes us to lose focus and often work on even more unimpactful things…

And then we become exhausted, lose sleep and everything catches up to us and we crash.

That’s kind of where Anthony was.

In his words:

“I was trying to scale my business to this magic number I thought would make me feel like the business was a success.

I probably used to have a lot of things that I would work really, really hard on and end up burning out and pushing too hard.”

You see, sometimes working harder isn’t the answer.

Our invisible emotional needs can have us running really, really hard… but in a suboptimal direction.

Our emotions get in the way of our logic… and that’s rarely a good recipe for long-term success,

“What I've since found actually is that that strategy was really flawed, that I was incredibly busy, but I wasn't very effective at all.

I've completely restructured my business model. I've completely restructured the way in which I work and run my life. And they have all been maximized for what I actually want.”

Or in other words… Logical strategy > emotional response.

Sounds simple, but it’s not that easy.

Why?

Because

  1. We’re not robots.
  2. Most of the stuff that’s out there about mindset, motivation and goal setting is complete rubbish

“So I've tried command set coaches, psychologists, I read every book under the sun, all the kind of regular morning routine.

And what I found is that 99% of that was actually rubbish and wasn't going to get me to my goals and simply working harder in this instance definitely wasn't the solution.”

So what enables already successful people like Anthony to reach a new threshold of success?

Doing even more of the same isn’t it… as that either leads to burnout or small incremental growth.

It requires a mindset shift that most, including Anthony himself, didn’t know was possible.

“I believed there were parts of my personality, parts of my behavior that were just who I am, What I've learned since is that mindset is completely malleable. I now totally believe that.

I'm seeing the results. Parts of my personality that had been there for decades are now shifting or have completely shifted.”

And with that Anthony has earned new levels of growth, profits and more family time.

Here’s a screenshot of a recent win he shared in the group:

What to do if you are constantly teetering on burnout.

  1. Ask yourself if you’re clear on what the main priorities are.
  2. Clarify if you’re only focusing on those or if you FEEL a stressful pull to other things… like it was in Anthony’’s case…
  3. Decide to do something about it. Decide to get your emotional self in check so that you can bring out your logical self, avoid unnecessary anxiety or stress and achieve what you’re capable of.

Who dares wins,

Itamar

P.S. I was surprised when we asked Anthony what he wants people to know about joining The Arena:

“The thing that I really like about Itamar is that you don't get this hardcore militant approach, you get a guy who's really calm, really compassionate.

He genuinely cares about you succeeding. And that's why he tells you the no-filtered, no-BS kind of truth.

The program is for anyone who knows that they are capable of achieving more. However, also knows that they are the limiting factor in that and are willing to follow a very structured, simple plan or strategy to achieve it.

It's life-changing stuff. You just 100% have to do it!”

Your Past is Irrelevant + “100x the return” – Alexander De Fina

“Is this going to be like therapy?”

“Will this be a men's support group?”

“I’m tired of people trying to get me to stare at my past”

Common concerns we hear from the more A-type individuals who are thinking of joining The Arena.

And I get it.

I’d also much rather rocket towards a bigger future than waste time aimlessly staring at the past trying to “heal all my trauma” or “hug my little child.”

Alex was already a successful entrepreneur. He built the two largest women’s fitness brands in Asia and was looking for his next big thing… but he was stuck.

“I was going through the ideation phase of trying to build out the business model, yet wondered why I wasn't pulling the trigger, why I wasn't moving forwards.

That really challenged my identity because I identified myself as the entrepreneur who takes action immediately.

But I was displaying all these characteristics of other entrepreneurs, which I didn't necessarily value ambiguity, the stagnation, and wondering why that was?”

For context, Alex is an action-taker. He literally joined the program at the last possible moment… not because he waited, but because a friend he respected had just shared with him the results he’d gotten out of it and Alex wanted in.

Alex didn’t really know what to expect, but he had those same concerns.

  • Is this going to be like therapy?
  • Will this be a men's support group?
  • “I’m tired of people trying to get me to stare at my past”

And his experience with The Arena was far from it…

“What I really appreciated about Itamar’s approach is he spent almost no time looking in the rearview mirror in terms of why have these things happened and why do we think this way and what led to that and so on…

That very pragmatic, process-oriented approach was really different to how I'd done it in the past and I think that's why I personally feel like I had a tremendous breakthrough from it.”

See, sometimes the thing that will get you to the next level isn’t obsessing about your past and healing all this or that. It’s sometimes just about understanding how you tick.

And that’s what it was for Alex. As soon as he got clear on that he was able to remove everything that wasn’t working and make space for what was.

“My outlook on business now is the polar opposite of where I was prior to The Arena program.

I had a huge epiphany that I had confused interesting business ideas for opportunities, for things that I should be personally doing.

And I wasn't moving forward because I need passion and purpose in what I'm doing.”

That’s the wild part. Despite always being interested in psychology, philosophy and various kinds of self-work… It wasn’t Alex’s past that was holding him back.

It was a simple lack of clarity that he needed an outside perspective to see.

In Alex’s words:

“As I said to my wife, I would have paid 10x more for The Arena program knowing what I've taken out of it than what I went into it with… Because the unlock for me is worth 100x what I paid for it.”

What to do if you want to move forward and are tired of being told to stare at your past.

  1. Ask yourself if you’re crystal clear on what you want to do next
  2. Clarify if what’s holding you back is lack of clarity on the path, fear of walking the path or perhaps… like it was in Alex’s case… Self-permission to walk the path that you want!
  3. Decide to do something about it

Who dares wins,

Itamar

P.S. When we asked Alex what he’d say to anyone sitting on the fence, here’s what he said:

“If you can recognize a gap between where you are and where you want to be…

Consider why you’re sitting on the fence. Because if you knew that the outcome was positive, you wouldn't be sitting on the fence.

So it's only internal apprehensions and anxieties.

Is it apprehension around your own sense of accountability? Well, that's going to be baked into the program.

So you can delete that concern.

If it's the cost, well, then look at it as an investment.

Now, as I said to my wife, I would have paid 10x more for The Arena program, knowing what I’ve taken out of it, than what I went into it with…. Because the unlock for me is worth 100x what I paid for it.”

From Sleeper to 3x’ing his business – The power of decision – Kevin Miller

"Joining the program was a lot of money for me at the time but we’ve already 3Xed the business and that doesn't even include what's on the horizon… In the next 2 months, I could 10x the business.”

Kevin was a classic “sleeper.” An entrepreneur with all the potential in the world… but he was hiding it… Both from others and from himself.

He had already bought 3 businesses but he just wasn’t showing up. It was a 30% version of himself. One far below his real potential.

In his words:

“The issue I was trying to solve was my mindset, right? There's so many things in mindset… but I knew that I was not seeing myself in the right light.

When things were hard, I used to think they were just either impossible or not worth doing."

One day I got this email from him:

“It’s time. ARENA!”

And we got to work. Not on the business, but on the man.

On figuring out why someone as capable as him was shying away from challenges. Why someone as smart as him felt like he shouldn’t step up, say what he wants and go for it.

We challenged some core beliefs he had about who he is and how he defined his capabilities and opportunities… And once we did that, everything shifted.

First, he opened up on an internal level and began to give himself permission to excel:

“My life has changed.

I am a different person and my business is running completely differently. 100% focused and I’m going to crush it.

The Arena helped me figure out what I was lacking and where I was lacking.”

And almost immediately the results followed:

“Since joining the Arena I’ve 3x the business… That doesn't even include what's on the horizon, which is in the next two months I could 10x the business.

Those things would not be here had I not worked on myself.”

Why did this happen? Because Kevin isn’t afraid of the hard stuff…

It's just that sometimes we need an outside voice to help us see things and give us that permission. That permission to really go for it and become the person we always knew we could be.

“It is really incredible to find somebody like that who cares for you and is also willing to say something that hurts… But Itamar will say it to your face because he wants you to get better.

There are very few people that will do that for you. Everybody’s so caring and cuddling and sometimes you just need to hear how it is, but from somebody that also cares so much.

Itamar’s life-changing because he will tell you how it is.”

So why was Kevin able to have such a life-changing shift (both for himself and his business) inside a short 6-week span?

Because he made a decision. He decided to step up, get real and put himself in the right environment:

“When you get in that group of people who really want to do the hard work, it's huge.”

He got honest, looked at himself in the mirror and accepted constructive criticism, even when it was difficult. He did what pros do.

And the results showed.

Kevin’s thoughts about the Arena and who it’s NOT for:

“If you're not going to be open, not going to be truthful with yourself, not willing to take criticism.

if you're not okay with people giving you constructive criticism… It's not for you.

Sometimes it's brutal hearing the feedback, but it's constructive, and it's given to you in a good way.

But if you're not willing to take that and work on it, it's not the place."

On a personal level it’s amazing to see Kevin be able to access his full bank of abilities and win… but the really cool thing?

His change of identity. He’s a true winner now and it’s clearly visible to others.

In a conference we both attended at the end of last year I had 4 people approach me and say, “Dude, WTF happened to Kevin? He’s lost weight and just has a different vibe. He says it’s The Arena stuff…”

Kevin is a sleeper no more… He’s a winner.

It’s a testament to his commitment and what’s possible. A complete Identity shift in your 40s.

How to Take Action Now (And start truly winning)

It’s simple if you’re up for it:

  1. Ask yourself, "Am I content with how I’m currently showing up in my life and business?"
  2. Decide when you’ll take action
  3. Step up and get to work

Overcoming Self Sabotage, 200k Profit months & Finally Feeling Happy at 56 – Ian Horley

"I honestly believe I would never have experienced a genuinely happy day of my life had I not started working with you."

The first time I saw Ian he was giving a powerful keynote at a conference and we met at a mastermind I ran during Covid.

On the outside Ian was crushing it… 7 figure business, nailed in a productized service and was well respected by his fellow entrepreneurs

But he kept getting in his own way. He felt like it was self sabotage :

"I've had multiple businesses over the last 20 years, I kind of do really well in the beginning, I smash doors down, I get things going, I make things happen.

And then I achieve a certain amount of success and even breakthrough success. And somehow everything stops at some point until in the end, I'm sacrificing everything including my health, sanity, and still not feeling like the threats going away."

So we got to work.

Not on his business, or his business skills, but on him.

On figuring out why someone as capable as him would put glass ceilings on his success and stop himself from being able to reap what he worked towards and earned.

"I wasn't aware that I was behaving in ways that would sabotage the business. I just knew that for some reason, things would stop making progress.

There's something out there that I'm doing or allowing into my life or allowing into my business, that means I know I'm not reaching my maximum potential."

There's a weird thing that happens when people have a tough past or upbringing. Often what they say to themselves that they want, isn't what they truly want. It's just what they hope could resolve an internal insecurity that they have.

Ian was having a hard time letting go of that insecurity. Instead of optimizing for what he really wanted, without recognizing it he was living to try to prove something to "a voice on the shoulder."

But once we were able to resolve and free him from that subconscious insecurity everything started to change.

"You know, the profits are more than 200. And this is profits we're talking about not, not top line revenue, top line revenues just keeps going up.

I honestly believe I would never have experienced a genuinely happy day of my life had I not started working here, I have my first ever happy days age 56. Now, as a result of working together."

Why was Ian able to have this transformation?

Because he was ready. He made a decision that it was time. It was time to choose courage, uncover his blocks and overcome them.

And the results quickly followed:

  • "To say that we've had record month after record month since is an understatement. "
  • "Being able to take those profits (200k), you can only make profit like that when you give yourself permission to and now the freedom to make decisions on what's right for the things that I feel are important are present front of mind and win all the time."
  • "The number of dialogues I have with that person on my shoulder is down to almost zero which really is phenomenal."

In Ian's words:

"Having someone who's really professional, who really cares about the outcome for you, who is not going to just placate you and fill you with crap to make you feel good for 20 minutes to come in and just shine a light in those blind spots... Are You a High Performing Underachiever? “Revenue Up 128%” – Julian Goldie

We’ve used a lot of consultants in the past who said, you need to do more of this, you need to do more of that…

And all of a sudden, you've got 1000 Things you need to improve, and you're overwhelmed.

Julian was the classic high achiever who was actually underperforming.

He was already running a successful 7 figure SEO business, but he… and many others around him… knew that he was only scratching the surface.

The reality was that he was stuck. He just wasn’t clear on how to break through to the next level.

The biggest obstacle was understanding what I need to fix because sometimes you're so close to yourself, you don't objectively see what you need to improve.

And that's the biggest obstacle because deep down you kind of know, that on a surface level day-to-day, you ignore the things that you need to actually work on.

So he joined the Arena and we got to work.

Not on what he needed to do…

But on what he needed to STOP doing.

The thing is a lot of entrepreneurs are great at seeing opportunities… But it can be a double-edged sword.

They get caught up trying to do 15 different things at once and end up not seeing any results because of a lack of clarity.

Yes, shiny object syndrome is a real thing, but from my experience, most of the time it’s not the main issue.

You know what is?

People avoiding things that are emotionally hard.

Ask yourself this… What would most people instinctually avoid:

  • Trying that new shiny thing that could be amazing… or… looking at what revenue stream they need to cut to make room for the more profitable ones.
  • Giving an employee an extra task because “If they’re already here, let's utilize them!”... or… honestly asking themselves if their company is over-staffed with underperformers.

Most people avoid the latter questions. But not Julian. He decided not to.

He decided to because he made a choice to step up.

He realized he had a choice and the results followed.

Last month, year on year, the revenue of the business was up 128%. Bearing in mind for the last 6 to 9 months up to that point, I was banging my head against the wall trying to figure things out.

And mind you The revenue went up while the company went down from 70 mediocre employees to 50 high performers. He looked at the data, had the tough conversations, and did what needed to be done.

And profitability shot up as a result.

In his words:

With your program, it's more about elimination and subtraction to the point where you don't need to do more, you just need to separate the vital few from the trivial many.

If you can do that, then everything becomes easier.  For me, the biggest thing was always subtraction.

Up to that point in my whole career of running a business, I've always felt like:

“What do I need to do more of?”

And that was always my direction for recruitment… How do I learn more… How to publish more? How do I create more? How do I hire more people?

And that leads to a compounding problem of doing too much, being burnt out, and being very inefficient.

If you look at the top entrepreneurs and the most profitable businesses, they go the opposite way. It's all about elimination

So you might think Julian is different, but if you look at yourself, maybe you are a little bit burnt out, perhaps overwhelmed, maybe holding yourself back and frustrated.

But the reality is that, like Julian, you always have a choice.

You can keep doing the same old things that even though you know aren’t good for you… feel familiar…

Or you can choose to step up and become the CEO you know you can be.

So the question you have to ask yourself is:

  1. How long has this been happening?
  2. How long have you felt overwhelmed and burnt out?
  3. And how long will you allow this to keep happening?

Julian made a decision to do something about it. That’s why his business keeps growing and becoming more profitable every month.

And while you can try to do this on your own here are his thoughts about The Arena:

“I recommend The Arena to any entrepreneur who's struggling with direction and really wants to challenge themselves and take things seriously to get to the next level.

You're gonna get very direct, no bullshit advice in a very intense environment. And that's the best way to learn new challenges.

Just do it now because otherwise you're gonna keep going in circles.

Conquering Mediocrity, Record Breaking Months and Achieving Excellence – John Ainsworth

"November was our best month ever and December is on track to be our best month ever as well."

John’s well respected in several entrepreneurial communities and is known by many as the "Funnel King".

His business was doing well. It was growing and getting clients great results while requiring very little of his personal time… but anyone who knows John knows that "doing well" isn’t good enough for him..

"What I care about a lot in life is achieving excellence. A standard that is ridiculously high.

But I had these internal blockages… I just knew that there was something that was slowing me down.

I've got all this capability that I just wasn't able to tap into, because I was getting in my own way"

So John joined The Arena and we got to work.

Not on the business, but on the man.

On figuring out why someone as capable as him was dealing with constantly feeling tired or frustrated.

We challenged some core beliefs he had about how things should be and removed a lot of the unhelpful frustration and pressure that was weighing him down… And once we did that everything shifted..

First on an internal level:

"I'm not exhausting myself from that stuff like before. From this constant kind of self aggression…

So I've been able to work a lot more on the business, it's been a lot easier, I've had a lot more energy for it."

And almost immediately after on an external level:

"We've seen improvements around marketing and sales and we’ve actually had more money coming in.

November was our best month ever and December is on track to be our best month ever as well.

The people in my team are absolutely crushing it.

The fact that I have more energy… and can think more clearly… and can work with my team better… and can get the things I need to get done.. means that the speed of improvement in the business is increasing, which is going to have a compound effect over time, which is massive!"

What’s also important to note is that John isn’t afraid of hard work. Even before joining The Arena he was big enough of a man to own his blocks and try to work through them.

"I’ve spent a lot of time in the past… I'll sit and meditate and journal, and I'll try and figure out ‘What's the blockage? What's going on?’ and not make progress."

So why was he able to have this transformation (both for himself and his business) inside a short 6-week span?

Because he made a decision. He decided to ask for help around an uncomfortable subject:

"With The Arena, I could just turn up for the sessions twice a week, and know that every week I'm going to move forward."

And the results showed:

  • Internally, it just feels a lot easier, a lot smoother, it's a lot more straightforward to just go and get done what I need to get done. I'm not exhausting myself like I was doing before.
  • I've got all this capability that I just wasn't able to tap into, because I was getting in my own way. And that's just not happening anymore. The whole business is moving forward faster.
  • I have a lot more energy. I've been working with the people in my team and they’re absolutely crushing it.
  • We've just had a record November was our best and whatever and December is on track to be our best month ever as well.

John’s thoughts about the Arena and who it’s NOT for:

"It's for a relatively small subset of people…It's for people who are already really good at something, they've already got a skill set, they're already got something that they can smash it with...They are already determined and hardworking and trying to make stuff happen… And yet there's something that's getting in the way and holding them back.

So if you are thinking ‘I could do better than this. I know I could!’ you’ve got to be willing to do the uncomfortable work. You have to be willing to be open and vulnerable.

Because if you're somebody who really wants to grow your business… do better… make more money… achieve more and are willing to put that hard emotional work in…Then it's phenomenal!"

On a personal level it’s amazing to see John be able to access his full bank of abilities and win… While also being able to actually enjoy the ride of building the massive business he and his team are capable of.

How to Take Action Now (And stop settling for less than excellence)

It’s simple:

  1. Ask yourself, "Am I content with my current achievements?
