Have you ever wondered why so many people fail to achieve their goals, even when they start with such incredible enthusiasm? The reason they fail is it because their goals weren't worthy, or they didn't reverse engineer the right steps? It's very often because.

It's somebody else with your exact skill set for achieving more than you currently are. If so, you're in the right place. Today, I'm going to reveal the crucial missing piece that nobody talks about when it comes to goal setting. And this could be the difference between you achieving your goals in 2025 or falling short. So most people set goals and they get really excited about them, right? They have this big vision of where they want to go, and that's crucial to have.
00;01;08;16 - 00;01;31;26
Itamar Marani
But here's the thing. And this is really important to understand, the reason they fail isn't because their goals weren't worthy or that in reverse engineered the right steps. It's very often because they don't prepare for the hardships along the way. So what do I mean by that? Let's say someone's goal for 2025 is to launch a new product line or maybe they want to double the revenue or expand to three new markets, whatever it may be.
00;01;31;28 - 00;01;49;01
Itamar Marani
And they get really excited about it, which is great. They start planning out how they're actually going to get there, and they reverse engineer all the things they need to do, all the things they need to happen. But here's what happens in reality, and I want you to think about this in that perfect path that they're painting for themselves and hoping to walk down there.
00;01;49;01 - 00;02;08;19
Itamar Marani
Going to be many road bumps along the way. And these road bumps are sometimes going to be failures. Sometimes you're going to be certain challenges you have to overcome. And sometimes this is key. This is going to be simple trade offs that you have to recognize are going to be there. So here's a concrete example. Let's say you're running a service business and you want to scale it up in 2025.
00;02;08;22 - 00;02;26;17
Itamar Marani
Now what most people do is they say, great, I'm going to hire three new team members, create new service packages, and double my client base. And it sounds great, right? But let's look at what this actually means. First off and this is really important. You're going to have to one spend money on hiring before you have the revenue to support it.
00;02;26;19 - 00;02;49;15
Itamar Marani
To deal with the fact that maybe the first two hires aren't actually going to work out. Three. Face the reality that your current clients might get upset about changes in service delivery. Four. Accept that you might need to work longer hours during the transition. And five recognize that you might need to invest in new systems and processes. There's a lot of things along the way that aren't pleasant, that aren't just a fun part of goals.
00;02;49;17 - 00;03;08;00
Itamar Marani
Now here's another example. Let's say you want to transition from a done for you service to creating digital products. What's the reality there? Well, you might need to take a temporary hit to your income. You'll probably need to learn new skills and your first product launch. It might completely flop. And guess what? Your second one might as well.
00;03;08;03 - 00;03;29;25
Itamar Marani
And here's what most people don't want to talk about. And this is crucial. You might need to actually work more hours while making less money in the short term. And that's the reality. But that isn't pleasant about achieving these goals. That a lot of times you have to take a dip in order to go up. So what happens if we don't preemptively expect and accept that these things will happen?
00;03;29;27 - 00;03;48;12
Itamar Marani
And I mean really accept it. Not just intellectually understand it, but kind of anticipate how it'll feel and be willing to be okay with it. If we don't do that, when we meet these challenges in real time and aren't prepared for them, they can really knock the wind out of us. It can completely deflate us. So think about it.
00;03;48;15 - 00;04;15;13
Itamar Marani
You launch your first digital product. You've spent three months building it. You're super excited. And then crickets. Nobody buys it. Now, if you haven't prepared yourself for this possibility, what happens? You start questioning things. You perhaps are questioning yourself and you might even give up. So here's how you can overcome this and make sure that you're not just getting excited in January, but really staying consistent through the entirety of 2025.
00;04;15;15 - 00;04;32;22
Itamar Marani
It's a simple process, but you actually have to do it. First you say, what's the goal? And you reverse engineer and do all the regular things that people talk about when goal settings. But then on top of that, you figure out what's the price you're going to have to pay. For example, say you want to build out a sales team in 2025.
00;04;32;25 - 00;04;47;12
Itamar Marani
Aside from getting inspired about what it would mean to have it in place and breaking down what needs to happen, you need to ask yourself, what's the price I'm going to have to pay to actually make it happen? And am I at peace with it? Am I okay with it? Am I willing to pay that price? Am I committed to it?
00;04;47;14 - 00;05;09;14
Itamar Marani
And when I say price, here's what I mean. So first off is the actual price the actual money you're going to spend on salaries, training, tools, recruiting and so on. Then there's the time price, the hours you spent interviewing, training, managing all that jazz. There's also the emotional price, dealing with possible rejection, having a candidate not follow up the way you wanted him to.
00;05;09;15 - 00;05;28;07
Itamar Marani
Managing different personalities and sales, whatever it might be. And then there's also just a learning curve price. There's a feeling of inadequacy and incompetence you're going to feel along the way as you're doing this new thing and making mistakes and having to learn new skills. And also, it's just going to take away from different opportunities that you can take.
00;05;28;09 - 00;05;53;15
Itamar Marani
Now, here's what's really interesting. When you map this out and you really think about these costs, something that you might have to pay in order to make this happen, something very interesting happens. You realize that either one you say to yourself, you know what? This price is too high right now. Maybe I need to adjust my goal and that's a good thing to do, because it prevents you from wasting a lot of energy on something that you don't actually see to completion and don't actually get the results from.
00;05;53;17 - 00;06;12;24
Itamar Marani
So that's one you recognize. You know what this price is too high. I don't want to take this on right now. Or number two you say okay, you know what. This is the price. And I'm willing to pay it because the outcome is worth it for me. And once you've gone through this in your head already, you're so much more prepared to actually meet it in person, in real life and achieve it.
00;06;12;26 - 00;06;36;08
Itamar Marani
So here's a key question. And I want you to really think about this. What will pay this price get you. And what's the other side of this challenge that actually worth it? It's this constant process of saying, what's the goal, what's the price it's going to require, and am I truly willing to pay that price? And having that more complete framework for setting goals, instead of just saying, I want to achieve this, this is what I've got to reverse engineer.
00;06;36;10 - 00;06;57;18
Itamar Marani
It can make such a giant difference between simply being inspired in January and actually making things happen throughout the entirety of 2025, and having that resilience because you're prepared for those punches along the way. So when you're setting your goals for this year, for 2025, here's a better way to ensure you actually achieve them. Don't just say what you want to do, but actually take the time to figure out what is the price.
00;06;57;20 - 00;07;17;12
Itamar Marani
This is going to require. And am I willing to pay that price? And why is it worth it for me? So remember, success isn't just about knowing where you're going. It's about being prepared for the journey ahead with all the challenges that will be included. Most people will set goals for 2025. That's the easy part, the stuff that everybody knows.
00;07;17;14 - 00;07;36;05
Itamar Marani
But you, you can do something different. You can get real about the price you'll need to pay and make peace with it. Because when you map out those challenges ahead of time, when you make peace with the setbacks before they happen, that's when you don't get shaken up and retreat. That's when you can actually cross your goals instead of just talking about them like most people do.
00;07;36;12 - 00;07;52;25
Itamar Marani
So this was a very short podcast on purpose. You have a lot of free time, so please take the ten minutes right now. Write down your goals, but right next to them. Write down the price you'll need to pay in order to make them happen. And ask yourself, am I willing to pay this price? If yes, amazing. If no, great.
00;07;52;28 - 00;08;10;18
Itamar Marani
You just save yourself a lot of wasted effort from trying to do something that you actually not willing to see until the end. So this one step I figured out what's the price and if you're willing to pay it. You can change everything for you. And if you found this valuable, I'd love to hear what price you're willing to pay for your biggest goal in 2025.
00;08;10;18 - 00;08;26;03
