Fabian had just done something really big. He exited his business after working on it for 4 years.
Yet he wasn’t able to enjoy himself or get going with his next venture.
He had just proven that he was a very capable entrepreneur, but he kept feeling like he was bumping into an invisible wall.
“I had just sold a business that I had been working on for the last 4 years and it unexpectedly threw up a whole bunch of mindset issues and emotions and fears and all these negative things that I was not prepared for at all.”
Logically, Fabian shouldn’t have been going through this.
But self-sabotage isn’t logical. It’s usually caused by a fear that has nothing to do with business acumen or someone’s skill set.
It’s caused by a belief that we should avoid the next level of the game… And that belief causes us to procrastinate, go in circles or just put a stick in our wheels.
And the most frustrating thing? We usually aren’t aware that it’s self-inflicted. We are actually doing it to ourselves.
In his words:
“I was trying to figure out the next path for me. I would start things and then figure out reasons why I couldn't do it. At the end of it I just felt constantly stressed. I would just jump from idea to idea and constantly sabotage myself.”
So why do we self-sabotage or hold ourselves back?
Sometimes because we subconsciously think we’ve lucked out, or peaked already and won’t be able to handle the next level.
And sometimes because we think we don’t deserve the next level of success.
But sometimes it’s both.
It was clear that Fabian was putting a ceiling on himself.
Why? Because he’s a sharp and honest guy. He has a great reputation in business circles and he literally just exited a business.
So we got to work.
Not in his business, but on the false self-image he was holding onto. One that was causing him to go in circles and waste time and effort on the small things that didn’t make an impact.
And he was able to finally step into himself and settle into being who he objectively is - a winner:
“I built a confidence from a much deeper place. From a place of who I am as a person so that no matter how things are going I could still have this deeper, more internal sense of confidence which I still carry to this day and it's only getting stronger…
It's just this huge, huge enlightening kind of ‘Aha’ moment for me. I wouldn't be where I am now without that.”
So what helped Fabian make this big of a breakthrough despite having already listened to multiple podcasts, read business books, stoicism and so on?
It’s that none of us can do brain surgery on ourselves…
“The issue I was running into was that I didn't realize that this area that I thought I needed to work on wasn't actually even close to what the real issue was.
My issues were much deeper and bigger. I wasn't able to see them myself without having Itamar guide me through that process.”
And once we cleared that up he netted a clean $52k + 5 figure in recurring revenue for a new project out of the gate.
What You Can Do To Take Action Now
If Fabian’s situation feels uncomfortably familiar, and you’re struggling with confidence or self-sabotage take the following steps:
- Ask what possible beliefs or fears are getting in my way and causing me to play small or hold myself back.
- Assess if those beliefs are valid truths or something false that’s holding you back (a great way to do this is by asking, “If this was someone else telling me this about their situation, what would I think?”).
- Decide when you’ll say it’s time to step up and do the hard thing. To stop skirting around the issue and address what’s actually holding you back… So that you can start to win.
And if you want help with that, please reach out. It’s my biggest passion.
Because again, you can’t do your own brain surgery, but I’d love to help you remove whatever’s holding you back so you can win BIG.
Who dares wins,
Itamar
P.S. Here are Fabian’s thoughts on the tangible ROI of the program:
“This will be absolutely game-changing for you. If you're on the fence, know that the investment will definitely pay off for your happiness and your mental health, but it will also have a very real ROI because you're going to have more confidence and clarity to act in business as well.
Uncovering these issues that you don't even realize you have, it's such a powerful experience that's just going to unchain you and allow you to move so much faster.”
