When Al Qaeda Came to Kidnap Me…

In 2010 I was stationed abroad on behalf of my country’s government working undercover counter terrorism.

When living somewhere as an undercover agent you’re not expected not to have a life.

There are certain guidelines and boundaries that are meant to keep you safe and allow you to still create loose connections and enjoy life a little bit.

One of those guidelines is to never let anyone know where you really live.

So when a guy who I only loosely knew from training martial arts together called me saying that he was in a jam and was right outside my house the hairs on the back of my neck stood up.

There was no way he should’ve been able to know where I live unless there was some serious foul play. My partner and I both immediately understood what was happening and prepared.

Luckily my training saved me that night… The guy I thought was a gym buddy turned out to be an Al Qaeda operative.

And while there’s a lot of drama in that story, it’s not why I’m sharing it with you.

It’s not why it’s important.

You see, past events impact our psyche… and our future.

And the real danger is that sometimes we don’t even know it.

I was actually really lucky to have something this big and dramatic happen to me.

Because the aftermath wasn’t something I could just shrug off and claim didn’t make a difference.

After having somebody who I thought was a friend turn out to be someone who wanted to kidnap me…I had a deep fear of letting people in… which led to me being very closed in general.

Understandable, maybe… but the PTSD and social anxieties I developed were standing in the way of me getting what I want out of life.

Whenever I tried achieving big things, I would hit this invisible wall that I didn’t used to.

There was something in my head that would cause me to have a scarcity and fear ridden mindset, hesitate and come up short.

I couldn’t understand why and I kept getting frustrated… I was as disciplined and hardworking as possible, but in my professional pursuits I just wasn’t able to show up when I needed to.

The reason I say I was lucky is because it was such an evident problem that I HAD TO address it,

That’s when I got in contact with the Mossad’s head psychologist, Colonel D.

Colonel D. was a powerhouse of a man. A towering, combat savvy and accomplished individual who does iron mans and ultramarathons in his spare time… but also exudes care and empathy.

A rare blend.

I recognized how unique of an opportunity it was to be able to work with him so I dove in.

It was intense, but not in the way way I anticipated… I just simply wasn’t aware of how much stuff was weighing me down.

I knew about the Al Qaeda issue. But there was so much other stuff from my past that was affecting my sense of worth and creating a massive fear of failure.

We systematically flushed out my mindset blocks, resolved them and created a mental environment where I could fly.

We resolved pretty much all the internal resistance that was causing me to be scared and play small.

See contrary to what most people think… mindset at that level isn’t about helping people push harder.

If finding success in life is like climbing a mountain, Colonel D, didn’t try to motivate me to go faster or harder…

He just helped me remove the baggage that was weighing me down on the climb.

I find it easier to succeed these days… not because I’m hungrier than the next guy or ultra motivated to push through. Simply because I have very little internal resistance to push through.

Yes, fears of failure, judgement and uncertainty are still there on a tiny level… but they’re so small now that they don’t get in my way… They’re just not a factor anymore.

I can’t explain how calming it is to know that if I set out to accomplish something, one way or another, it’ll happen.

And that’s what I want for you.
