"November was our best month ever and December is on track to be our best month ever as well."
John’s well respected in several entrepreneurial communities and is known by many as the "Funnel King".
His business was doing well. It was growing and getting clients great results while requiring very little of his personal time… but anyone who knows John knows that "doing well" isn’t good enough for him..
"What I care about a lot in life is achieving excellence. A standard that is ridiculously high.
But I had these internal blockages… I just knew that there was something that was slowing me down.
I've got all this capability that I just wasn't able to tap into, because I was getting in my own way"
So John joined The Arena and we got to work.
Not on the business, but on the man.
On figuring out why someone as capable as him was dealing with constantly feeling tired or frustrated.
We challenged some core beliefs he had about how things should be and removed a lot of the unhelpful frustration and pressure that was weighing him down… And once we did that everything shifted..
First on an internal level:
"I'm not exhausting myself from that stuff like before. From this constant kind of self aggression…
So I've been able to work a lot more on the business, it's been a lot easier, I've had a lot more energy for it."
And almost immediately after on an external level:
"We've seen improvements around marketing and sales and we’ve actually had more money coming in.
November was our best month ever and December is on track to be our best month ever as well.
The people in my team are absolutely crushing it.
The fact that I have more energy… and can think more clearly… and can work with my team better… and can get the things I need to get done.. means that the speed of improvement in the business is increasing, which is going to have a compound effect over time, which is massive!"
What’s also important to note is that John isn’t afraid of hard work. Even before joining The Arena he was big enough of a man to own his blocks and try to work through them.
"I’ve spent a lot of time in the past… I'll sit and meditate and journal, and I'll try and figure out ‘What's the blockage? What's going on?’ and not make progress."
So why was he able to have this transformation (both for himself and his business) inside a short 6-week span?
Because he made a decision. He decided to ask for help around an uncomfortable subject:
"With The Arena, I could just turn up for the sessions twice a week, and know that every week I'm going to move forward."
And the results showed:
- Internally, it just feels a lot easier, a lot smoother, it's a lot more straightforward to just go and get done what I need to get done. I'm not exhausting myself like I was doing before.
- I've got all this capability that I just wasn't able to tap into, because I was getting in my own way. And that's just not happening anymore. The whole business is moving forward faster.
- I have a lot more energy. I've been working with the people in my team and they’re absolutely crushing it.
- We've just had a record November was our best and whatever and December is on track to be our best month ever as well.
John’s thoughts about the Arena and who it’s NOT for:
"It's for a relatively small subset of people…It's for people who are already really good at something, they've already got a skill set, they're already got something that they can smash it with...They are already determined and hardworking and trying to make stuff happen… And yet there's something that's getting in the way and holding them back.
So if you are thinking ‘I could do better than this. I know I could!’ you’ve got to be willing to do the uncomfortable work. You have to be willing to be open and vulnerable.
Because if you're somebody who really wants to grow your business… do better… make more money… achieve more and are willing to put that hard emotional work in…Then it's phenomenal!"
On a personal level it’s amazing to see John be able to access his full bank of abilities and win… While also being able to actually enjoy the ride of building the massive business he and his team are capable of.
How to Take Action Now (And stop settling for less than excellence)
It’s simple:
- Ask yourself, "Am I content with my current achievements?
- Decide when you’ll take action
- Get to work
