Overcoming Burnout, Becoming a Real CEO and leading the company to its best ever quarter – David’s Story

"It's improved my business. My personal relationships with my peers, family, and friends. My day-to-day peace and happiness. I came to The Arena trying to solve one problem, but then it permeated everything..."
  • David's business was stuck at a level that fell short of where he wanted it to be.
  • He had burnt out before from overwork and worried about it happening again.
  • The Arena helped him create a clear path to 4x his company's revenue in one year.

"Our last quarter was our best ever, by about 40%. Our goal for next year is to double, and by the end of the year, be at 4x. And I'm not scared of that. I'm able to look it in the face each day and say, 'this is what we need to do'. And there's no trepidation that it's all going to fail."

David had worked himself to exhaustion and burn-out before, and he was afraid of it happening again. So he wasn't doing the work to figure out what his company actually needed to scale. The Arena helped David realize he was burning a ton of energy trying to solve other people's problems. Just becoming aware of this subconscious drive delivered instant benefits that not only allowed him to chart a path for growth for his company, but spread throughout every area of his life.

"Itamar looked at me and said, 'it sounds like you feel like you're responsible for problems that are outside of your control.' And it just washed over me, because I came in trying to help my business, but it clicked everywhere. It clicked with my relationships with my family. My personal relationships. The people that we hire. The clients. I distinctly remember being unblocked simply by seeing that for what it was. And now I'm able to look at these problems and say 'not my circus, not my monkeys'. That freed up a lot of time and energy."

What would he say to other entrepreneurs considering The Arena?

"If you're just starting out as an entrepreneur and you're still piecing it together, you're probably stuck because you don't know what you're doing. But if the thing that's holding you back is your fear of failure, of your fear of something else, I would say, there's no better investment you can make. If the investment isn't worth it, you're thinking way too small. If you can't create an ROI on this investment, then you need a bigger business."
